AWX acquires Anime Direct

In a move that has certainly cemented them as South Africa's largest anime store, AWX has acquired rival anime outlet Anime Direct.

The domain animedirect.co.za is already redirecting to the awx.co.za online store.

The official statement:

"AWX is proud to announce that we will be taking over Anime Café / AnimeDirect.co.za and will be working with Byron, the previous owner, to offer the same diverse official catalogue items in all our stores; including Gundam model kits, Anime merchandise items and official figurines. This is an excellent opportunity for AWX to expand our range and offer the clients of both companies’ better services, products and increase Anime and Gaming popularity in South Africa.

Due to the extensive Gundam Model Kit clientele Anime Café built at the now closed Anime Café Monte Casino store, AWX has now increased the selection of Gundam available in the new AWX Fourways Crossing branch, making it easier for their previous clientele to move over their orders and purchase their usual Gundam product from AWX.

We look forward to an exciting second half of 2010 and would like ensure customers that AWX will always have continual dedication in offering the best, affordable, official catalogue we can offer."

Lets just hope Anime Direct's Gundam kits aren't bootlegs like the rest of their resin casts.

In regards to your concerns about Pirated / Bootleg modelkits, Resins, Figures or even Anime. AWX only buys from Official Distributors internationally to ensure that customers get the exact collectable product they pay for.

All Gundam merchandise is bought Directly from Official Bandai Distributers in Japan and the USA.
